The Context of Lord of The Flies

The context of the book, "Lord of The Flies" is based in WW II, where British boys evacuate from their homes by plane to a safe country side location. The Atomic bomb was created and the fear of being bombed was beyond description. This is shown on Pg. 20, "Didn't you hear what the pilot said?About the Atom Bomb? They're all dead." War planes were improved and many planes were shot down, as mentioned on Pg 13, "We were attacked."

Imperialism was becoming more and more common, the British did not like this and tried to go against Hitler as expressed in this story, when Jack makes his own tribe based on fun and Jack's orders as expressed on pg 186, "Who will join my tribe and have fun?" This also shows that people will abuse power when its not earned.
